Ajax midfielder alerts Premier League big boys

Former Arsenal winger Marc Overmars has all but confirmed the summer departure of Ajax star Christian Eriksen. The club’s Director of Football has categorically stated that the winger will not be signing a new contact at the end of this season, ‘Christian has informed us that he will not sign a new contract now.’ Talksport report that a host of European clubs are keen to secure the signing of the highly rated Danish international.

Eriksen has engineered himself a glowing reputation over recent seasons, further enhanced last weekend with a sublime solo effort in a 3-2 away win at title rivals PSV Eindhoven. The Dane has been instrumental this season, notching a personal best of 12 goals and 20 assists (41 games) in all competitions. The Amsterdammers now look set to record a third straight Eredivisie title, however continued domestic success and the promise of UEFA Champions League football doesn’t appear enough to match the ambitions of their talented play maker.

At the tender age of 21, Eriksen has already been capped on 32 occasions by Denmark, since making his debut in March 2010. Furthermore, the Dane has already appeared in excess of 150 times for the Amsterdam club, boasting a more than healthy level of experience. Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been linked with a summer move for the youngster. With Mancini’s side so obviously lacking creativity and guile in the wide areas, it would be no surprise to see the Sheikh’s utilise their financial clout to obtain the services of Eriksen.
