Rovers await Premier League interest in star striker

Jordan Rhodes and Blackburn Rovers may be in the midst of a relegation battle, but the player’s long term future has, somewhat expectedly, come into question. Whilst speaking to The Lancashire Telegraph, Caretaker Manager Gary Bowyer stated the club are preparing themselves for a prolonged summer of interest in their striker.

Whilst speaking to The Lancashire Telegraph, Caretaker Manager Gary Bowyer stated the club are preparing themselves for a prolonged summer of interest in their striker. Since joining in a record deal from Huddersfield Town, the Scotland striker has netted 25 goals in 44 appearances. These strikes have both kept his club in sight of Championship survival, but also attracted the apparent interest of West Ham manager Sam Allardyce.
The Daily Mail reported in May last year that Rhodes was the subject of interest from Premier League sides Everton, Fulham and Aston Villa, before the completion of an £8million move to Rovers. The young striker, with nine career hat tricks to his name, has impressed at Championship level in a struggling outfit, and will surely attract renewed Premier League interest. The 23 year old has also flourished in the early stages of his international career, scoring 3 times in 8 appearances for his adopted Scotland.
Rhodes has followed other strikers, namely Rickie Lambert who has been outstanding at Southampton, in proving that goalscorers are able to adjust accordingly when faced with enhanced opposition. The Oldham born striker is a lethal finisher and compensates for a lack of pace with both cunning movement and an astute touch. Few could discredit Rhodes if he stated a desire to leave Ewood Park, and with natural goal scorers a rare and highly valued commodity, a move to The Premier League may become inevitable.
