    Spurs enter Carroll race

Liverpool centre forward, Andy Carroll appears to be a wanted man, The Independent is reporting that Tottenham have joined Newcastle and West Ham in a three way battle for his signature.

Following last night’s performance against Manchester United, the Anfield club may also shortly be receiving a call from North Korea as they seek to further bump up their arsenal.

The Spurs link is perhaps surprising given that he isn’t what you would traditionally consider a ‘Tottenham’ player. His bustling style isn’t one that would seem immediately conducive to the passing football that Spurs fans demand.

It would be interesting to know what Andre Villas Boas sees in his game that perhaps Brendan Rodgers doesn’t. The Irishman from day one clearly didn’t see Carroll fitting into his pure footballing philosophy and made the big Geordie as welcome as, well a slightly unhinged, missile toting next door neighbour.

Maybe Villas Boas thinks that any big man option is better than the current misfiring big man option that he has at his disposal.

It is apparent to most football watchers that attack is the area of his team that requires the most urgent attention, this despite having the ‘Welshman’ in their midst.

Not many Spurs fans perhaps would have perceived Carroll to be the solution but if the deal comes off they might need to prepare themselves for a little less sophistication over the next few seasons.
