Arsenal looking at Mignolet for first team role

It’s fair to say that Arsenal have been less than impressive between the sticks this season however it seems Arsene Wenger is ready to address these concerns through the purchase of Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet, according to The Independent.

However it’s going to take a bid in the form of money for Wenger to get his man which has already been touted as a major stumbling block. Sunderland are holding out for at least £10 million for their man who has been in impressive form this season.

After Wenger’s OCD with mentioning the words “character” and “spirit” during every single pre-and-post match interviews, it has come to light the Professor has already had his scouts make several check to the character of the Sunderland goalkeeper.

The Belgium team are a national side that are sky-rocketing their way through the FIFA world rankings and look set to impress should they qualify for the 2014 World Cup. And Mignolet’s agent views a move to such a high profile club as the only way he can shove his way past Chelsea’s on-loan Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to become the number one.

Arsenal number one hit wonder? Or a sensation on the global stage? Only time will tell…
