You could write a book on defenders linked with the Liverpool over the last few months, with Micah Richards apparently the latest to be linked with a move to Anfield according The Mirror.

Richards without question is going to find it to tough to break back into the team given that Pablo Zabaleta has seemingly won the pairs long running battle for the right back slot, add in that Maicon will be back and the battle looks more than intense next term.

Despite Zabaleta being one of the clubs major successes this season it seems highly unlikely that Ciy with let Richards leave on the cheap given he himself was one of their key performers last term and brings strong versatility to Roberto Mancini's back line options. Further to this Richards will not come cheap and given his injury record spening significant funds on him looks a real risk, meaning that this is one we can probably cross off the never ending list of defenders on the Liverpool defender search.
