Skrtel not finished at Anfield yet

He is being muted for a move away on a regular basis but according to Sky Sports News Martin Skrtel is determined to fight for his place at Anfield, despite Liverpool seemingly being linked with every half decent central defender going.

Skrtel had been a regular for a vast number of years at Liverpool, however this season his face has seemingly not been a fit for Brendan Rodgers and he has struggled to make the number of first team appearances he has done in recent seasons. Skrtel has seemingly been the fall guy from Jamie Carragher enjoying a final Indian Summer of his career, with the ex England international rediscovering his best form in the very twilight of his career.

Last year Skrtel was one of Liverpool's stand out players and yes whilst picking out a stand out player from that disappointing year was difficult for all the wrong reasons, his years of strong form for the club should not be ignored. Rodgers right now would appear to have lost confidence in the Slovak, however Skrtel would do well to take heart from the case of Stewart Downing for if the much maligned winger can turn it around at Anfield then there is more than enough hope for Skrtel.
