Is a move for Cristiano Ron The Cards?

In the aftermath of Real Madrid's controversial dumping-out of Manchester United in this week's Champions League tie, the story that lingers on regards former Old Trafford maestro, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese star is rumoured to be willing to take a HUGE pay cut to join up with van Persie and co in the North-West, the Sun reports. The star's willingness comes following news that cash-rich Parisian club PSG are readying a deal thought to be around the £130m mark to tempt Ronaldo.

In spite of the interest of PSG, the current destination of another Old Trafford number 7 David Beckham, Ronaldo has reportedly told his advisory team that he is willing to sacrifice up to half of any potential mega pay-day in order to move back under the wing of Sir Alex Ferguson.

While United have remained coy on the subject of a move, it would hardly be surprising, as the man who they sold for £80m in 2009 has re-affirmed his status as one of the world's best since his departute. Ferguson told the Sun:

“Cristiano is mature now. He’s 28 and he’s at the peak of his career. With the fitness he’s got — he never misses a game and he’s never injured — you expect him to play at his peak until 32 or 33 easily.”

Whatever your opinion on the slick forward, he would undoubtedly improve the Premier League which has, many believe, seen a marked decline in quality since his sale.
