      United close to Schlupp deal

A striker who can also play at left-back; now there’s something you don’t see every day.
Unless you have been training with Manchester United that is. The Red Devils have handed a trial to Leicester City youngster Jeffrey Schlupp which has seen him feature in the last two under-21 games. Schlupp could now be making a permanent move to Old Trafford in a deal worth around £2.5m says The Daily Telegraph.
Nigel Pearson, the Leicester manager, said: "I think we'll be discussing this week what the next step is. He's done well at United, he's played the last two games that he can play there so clearly it's going to have some effect this week."
Schlupp began his career as a striker, impressing whilst on a loan spell at Brentford, but could never cement a place for himself up front upon his return to Leicester.
This season the 20-year-old has enjoyed success deputising for Paul Konchesky at left-back and had a positive run in the team during the end of last year.
Unfortunately this was bought to an end when Schlupp conceded a penalty which led to the only goal of the game against Leeds. There is now much debate amongst The Foxes fans as to who is the better option out of Konchesky and Schlupp, which to be honest, doesn’t bode well for the youngster’s United career.
He may only be 20, but if Paul Konchesky is still providing genuine competition for your starting place then it will be some time before you are good enough to play for United.
