Liverpool not giving up chase on starlet

Don’t worry Tom, Brendan hasn’t forgotten about you.

The Daily Mirror are reporting that Liverpool are not giving up in their pursuit of Tom Ince and will go back to Blackpool with a summer bid.

Rodgers made an effort to bring in Ince in January but couldn’t agree a deal with the club, who were determined to keep one of their brightest talents.

The England U21 international did, of course, used to be a part of the Red’s development academy, but was allowed to leave 18 months ago when he turned down a new contract from the club.

Ince picked up the Football League Young Player of the Year award on Sunday after a string of dazzling displays for the seasiders, but as he is in his final year of his contract should only cost around £4m this summer if the Red’s are still intent on bringing him back to Anfield.

The youngster himself did however admit this week that a potential move may not be that easy.

There was something about Liverpool coming in for me in January - and to go to a top club like that would have been fantastic - but I have to realise, it's about playing football and I don't think any of the moves were close," he said.

"It's great having that speculation and it's very flattering. To have teams of that magnitude saying you're a decent player, it gives me a smile and flatters me a lot.

"For me though it's about putting my faith in Blackpool because without that club, my team-mates and the fans I wouldn't be Football League Young Player of the Year and the player I am now.

"My dream is to play at the top level and to achieve my ambitions, but it's all about timing and patience, so when you get to the top you are ready to go and not jumping too soon."
