De Gea refutes talk of summer move

Much discussed Manchester United 'keeper David de Gea has been quick to quash rumours this week linking him with a summer transfer window switch, underlining his happiness in M16.

Reports in the Sun allege that de Gea is to snub advances from a variety of clubs across Europe, most prominently Catalan giants Barcelona, in order to remain number one at Old Trafford.

After a nervy beginning to his Man United career, de Gea has shown improved form this term, revealing why United were willing to pay a reported £17 million for him in 2011. Said form has not gone unnoticed by his national coach, on top of club-level interest, as Vincent Del Bosque recently called de Gea up to his Spanish squad for the World Cup Qualifiers this week.

Despite the recent plaudits de Gea was insistent on his happiness with Manchester United, stating that: “I know things have been said and written but I have a contract. I’m very well in Manchester. It is not just my name that appears. At Barca, Valdes is still the keeper and Madrid is my city, one day I’d like to return. But now I hope to stay in Manchester for a long time and win a lot of titles.”#

In light of his upturn in form, de Gea was full of praise for his boss Sir Alex Ferguson who he said is "more than a manager. He controls everything in the team. He’s a father for all those who come to the club. For that he is the best.”
