Youngster Sterling set for spell in finishing school

Had you have suggested a few months into the season that the next big thing Raheem Sterling would be ending his season playing Championship football rather at Liverpool your opinion would likely have been met by much bemusement, however that is exactly what The Metro are reporting might be set to occur.
The sterling form shown by the 18-year-old in the early stages of the season had led to many marking him out as the next superstar of English football, however his form has fizzled out with fatigue taking its toll and the form of Stewart Downing (yes you did read that right, don’t check your monitor!) has led to him being given only a bit part role.
To be fair to Brendan Rodgers it might just be canny management in ensuring that the player doesn’t burn out completely, whilst the championship finishing school is a more than trusted method of completing a promising footballer. Further to this there was a danger that Sterling might just have been starting to believe his own hype having shot to prominence at such an alarming rate.
Where he goes remains to be seen but make no doubt about there is likely to be no shortage of takers with the likes of Cardiff, Blackpool and Bolton all being muted. It is thought that Sterling might be used as a silver carrot to push through a deal for Tom Ince in the Summer so such a move in that direction would be no surprise.
