Liverpool step up chase for PSG hitman

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to add a striker to his squad this summer, The Daily Mail has reported, and the Northern Irishman has supposedly got his eye fixed upon Paris Saint Germain forward Kevin Gameiro.
Gameiro, a PSG player since 2011, was reportedly angered at his exclusion from the side on Saturday, finding himself on the bench for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. The striker, who has 16 goals in 51 appearances since a reported €11 million move from Lorient, has allegedly encouraged interest from the Merseyside club as he has become increasingly frustrated at being sparingly used by the French side.
His most recent exclusion is seemingly the final straw for the 25-year-old who was coveted by Valencia prior to his move to PSG. The striker clearly feels that he would not be short of suitors, as evidenced by his decision to alert clubs to his potential availability, through his agent.
The move would suit both parties as Rodgers himself has been frank in his admission that he wishes to add to a side that has disappointed on all fronts this campaign.
Much appears to depend upon the future of Andy Carroll whose re-sale value is supposedly key to Rodgers’ transfer budget in the upcoming transfer window.
