English sides do the Kongolo for starlet

According to Sky Sports Feyenoord have acknowledged the existence of interest in their emerging talent Rodney Kongolo, including enquiries from some of English football’s elite.

The 15-year-old is the latest in a conveyor belt of quality players to be unearthed by the Dutch side, and he is already the subject of envious glances from across Europe. Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal are reportedly among a raft of clubs keen to secure the teenager’s signature.

The three respective clubs have each raided Feyenoord’s youth system in the past, to secure young talent. Chelsea managed to pry Jeffrey Bruma away, Arsenal secured Kyle Ebecilio, while bright talent Karim Relik agreed a deal to take him to the Etihad Stadium.

Technical director Martin van Geel said that he was aware of scouts coming over to watch the young talent, but did stress that it was no more serious than that at this stage:

Our youth players are being followed, we are aware of that. But we are not aware of any serious interest in Rodney. He is only 15-years-old and no official contact has been made with us regarding his availability."

Any move would frustrate the Dutch side, as he is currently too young agree professional terms, and could therefore move clubs at will.
