City boss plans summer clear out

Manchester City’s struggles this season have been attributed, in part, to their failings in the summer transfer market.
Jack Rodwell, Scott Sinclair, Javi Garcia and Maicon have hardly set the league alight and according to The Guardian Roberto Mancini’s way of preventing more mistakes is by having a clear out, a summer clean if you will, involving the exit of several high profile players.
Carlos Tevez, Gareth Barry, Edin Dzeko and Samir Nasri are the biggest names on Mancini’s naughty list and it is easy to see why the Italian may be keen to get shot of them. All will be earning sky high wages and none have really performed to the kind of standard City need to set if they are to seriously challenge for the title.
Tevez and Dzeko have scored goals but are they the men you would count on in a tight game against tough opposition to grab you a goal? Samir Nasri has never really lived up to expectations since leaving Arsenal and Gareth Barry, well he’s still Gareth Barry.
Tevez, Barry and Joleon Lescott – another rumoured target of Mancini’s axe – all have just the one year remaining on their contracts and look set to exit the Etihad this summer whilst Mancini also has doubts over how much younger players like Scott Sinclair and John Guidetti can offer his side.
