Kompany is Barca target

It is no secret that Barcelona are on the lookout for a new centre back. Carlos Puyol is finally coming to the end of a seemingly endless career and with Javier Mascherano and Alex Song the only real cover in the heart of the defence, a new signing will surely be made.
According to The Metro, the man the La Liga table toppers want is Vincent Kompany. Good choice guys.
The Manchester City skipper is one of the Premier League’s top defenders and at 26-years-old should have plenty of years left at the top of his game.
But surely City will be desperate to keep their captain? Surely they will slap a ridiculous price tag on his head to put of those pesky Catalans.
Well no, not really. Apparently the Champions value Kompany at just £20m. To put that into context City paid £27m for James Milner and to compare to another centre back, £22m for Joleon Lescott.
If the Citizens really are prepared to let Kompany go to Camp Nou for £20m then the phrase ‘more money than sense’ springs to mind.
Barca are also targeting Borussia Dortmund’s Matt Humells and Chelsea’s David Luiz to fill their Puyol shaped hole but it seems as though Kompany is, unsurprisingly, top of their list.
The Belgian did pen a six year deal just last summer but the temptation to join the worlds most admired team may prove too great for him if Tito Villanova and co do come calling.
