Bayern close to winning Lewandowski race

You can't imagine that this is one that will go down well with Borussia Dortmund supporters but The Metro are reporting that goal machine Robert Lewandowski is on the verge of signing for title rivals Bayern Munich at the end of the season. The pole who has been one of the key components of Dortmund's incredible rise up the world football ladder had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, however it appears the lure of the biggest club in Germany and the chance to join Pep Guardiola has proved to much.
The news will come as a bitter blow to the German Champions who like a bird determinedly protecting its prized young assets from any potential threats and predators, have done a remarkable job in keeping their host of highly rated players at the club. Unfortunately for Dortmund just like with those egg protecting birds there are some foes which you can't see off, with Bayern falling into this category. Frustratingly for German football it is only likely to increase the current gap between Bayern and the rest, which a shame for league which in the last few years has produced some superbly competitive seasons. Of course nothing can last forever and Lewandowski can only be protected and kept in the Dortmund nest for so long; the hope will be that he can deliver the parting gift of a stunning Champions League crown and that his sale is not a case of the flood gates opening.
For Manchester United this is in some ways a blow, given that any side containing Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Lewandowski would be possessing striking options that nobody can compete with. However Sir Alex Ferguson would have had a job keeping all three happy all the time and United fans can at least fall back on the fact that in RVP and Rooney they have more than enough fire power to compete with anyone.
