Mboyo reveals turning down Carrow Road

Get your salt out its time for one of those staple post transfer window stories, whereby a player reveals that he turned down a move to a club in the window. This time it is Belgium Ilombe Mboyo who is making the claims, with Sky Sports News reporting that the player turned down a move to Norwich City on deadline day.
To be fair to the Belgium international his morals for turning down the offer are hardly the normal of not enough money or not enough ambition being offered, instead he claims that his decision to stay was based around a desire to not leave his current club Gent in the lurch. So with that in mind this story does at least have a little more substance to it, whilst unlike many transfer targets he was complimentary of his suitors offer stating it was a strong offer.
Norwich were of course looking for a striker throughout the window and they did manage to pick up another two, however we will never know if the well spoken Mboyo was yet another fall back option to their numerous failed Gary Hooper bids. Given he is a Belgium international you would not be surprised at interest, considering the constant conveyer belt of talent we are seeing coming from the country. It might just be the usual idle gossip but this one does at least have enough substance to suggest that it might not all be fiction.
