AZ youngster won't be joining Arsenal

A rather harsh snub for the Gunners reported on TalkSport today. They have quotes from Dutch starlet Adam Maher which rule out a move to Arsenal even after his boss tipped the 19-year-old for a move to North London.

When asked if he would be moving to the Emirates Stadium, he said: "I have already said that I do not want to go. I want a good stay in the Netherlands, at least another two to three years - I am only 19.

The young midfielder, currently playing for AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands is tipped for big things and has been capped by the national side.

His club have apparently slapped an £8.5m price on their prized assets head and after he stated his intentions to stay in the Netherlands for the foreseeable future but leave AZ in the summer a move to either PSV or Ajax in the summer looks likely. Sorry Arsene. He’s missing out on not just one of European football’s hot prospects, but also the holder of an obscure record. For Maher became the youngest ever player to score a goal in Europa League or UEFA cup whilst playing for a Dutch side when he scored on his debut against BATE Borisov in 2010.

What a moment that must have been for the youngster. He will surely find it difficult to top such dizzying heights even if a move to Arsenal does eventually materialise.
