      Neymar not going anywhere, yet

Now I’m sure you’re all already aware that Neymar is staying in Brazil until after the 2014 world cup. Good. Well the Sun have decided to tell us again anyway.

The man they call a “big Neym-player” will be carrying a lot of people’s hopes on his shoulders when the World Cup comes to Brazil next time around and a South American insider reiterated that he is no rush to move until then.

“Everyone knows that Neymar will stay in Brazil until the World Cup — but also that in 2014 he will probably leave for Barcelona or Madrid” said our mystery man.

The 20-year-old is already earning a rather tidy £11m a year at Santos, 85% of which is subsided by a series of high profile sponsors but after the World Cup will supposedly have his pick of Europe’s top sides, with Barcelona and Real Madrid unsurprisingly at the top of the queue.

The Sun also reminds us of our own failings by mentioning that Neymar is used to bumper salaries. At the age of 16 he was pocketing £10,000 a month at Santos, more than 40 times the minimum monthly wage in Brazil, so that’s nice.

Wherever the young Brazilian does end up moving it will be fascinating to see how he performs. In his home country he is hailed as having the potential to be as good as Ronaldo and Messi, but his lack of experience in Europe’s top leagues has thus far made such comparisons rather academic.
