Derby bring in Martin to replace Robinson

If Derby fans were worried about a lack of striker options following Theo Robinson's departure on loan, then they should fear not as Nigel Clough has acted by bringing in Chris Martin on loan from Norwich as has been reported by Sky Sports News. Robinson, despite his largely erratic and unpredictable displays, had been amongst the Rams top scorers with eight league goals this season. However, he struggled to keep himself in Clough's first team plans despite Conor Sammon hardly looking like scoring nevermind being prolific.
This therefore led to Robinson asking for a temporary switch and previous club Hudersfield were quick to offer him a place to stay. Despite Robinson's clear weaknesses his departure has left Derby lacking and as a result Martin has been brought in, although a record of just one league goal in twelve games at Swindon earlier on this season won't be getting many fans licking their lips.
To be fair to Martin he does at least have past form in the championship given that last season he scored a respectable seven league goals in twenty games with Crystal Palace and prior to that he played a key part in Norwich's promotion push. Nevertheless, his arrival is hardly likely to inspire who are meandering meakly towards another year of mid table mediocrity.
