PSG to bid £40m for Rooney?

Big spending French side PSG are planning an audacious swoop for Wayne Rooney says The Times. Apparently it is not enough to have just one striker who, shall we say, divides opinion in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and the Ligue 1 leaders are prepared to pay £40m to secure Rooney’s services.
Just so we’re clear than would leave PSG with the following options to fill their attacking spots; Ibrahimovic, Ezequial Lavezzi, Kevin Gameiro, Marco Verratti, Javier Pastore, Jeremy Menez and of course Rooney himself. Yikes.
The thought of Rooney partnering Ibra with a combination of the above players in support is surely enough to excite even the dourest of football fans, and with Robin van Persie now seemingly more integral to Manchester United’s attack than the Englishman such a large bid would probably tempt Fergie to cash in.
Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez are also competing for a starting role up front at Old Trafford and they could be joined by Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund who is a long term target. In short United are hardly wanting in attack and could put £40m to excellent use elsewhere in their squad (cough, centre-mid , cough).
The next question is; would Rooney fancy a move? His transfer request debacle in 2010 suggests that our Wayne’s loyalty to United may not be all that unwavering and if he were offered sky-high wages and a new challenge in the city of love who’s to say he wouldn’t be up for it?
