      Hamburg keen to retain Son

Any clubs looking for a bit of Sun on the cheap are likely to be left out in the cold, with ESPN Soccernet reporting that Hamburg are keen to extend Heung-Min Son's stay with the club. The highly rated South Korean international has been linked with a whole host of Premier League clubs and although this news is unlikely to dampen such interest, it at least indicates the Germans are not prepared to role over and lose their prized asset.

Any potential move looks dependant on Hamburg clinching Champions League football next season, with the club having rolled the gambling dice a little to often and a result find themselves in a tentative financial state. Therefore meaning if they do not receive that lucrative pay cheque the Sun almost certainly will not be shining on the club and its likely that this is one the vultures will pounce. Currently the club sit sixth in the league meaning that it is still very much touch and go over whether they will achieve their aims and therefore be in a position to offer Son a new deal.

Following a successful Olympics Son has lit up the German League this season with nine goals in 21 starts and with him also offering a way into the Asian commercial market it is no wonder clubs are lining up to make a bid. Nevertheless Hamburg are more than keen to keep their favourite Son, although whether they can or not is likely to come down to just how strong an end to the season they can muster.
