      City planning massive summer clear-out?

With Financial Fair Play just 'round the corner, and with City's current season failing to hit the heights of their last one, new director of football Txiki Begiristain (no, I can't pronounce that for you) has set the ball rolling for wholesale changes at the club (yet again).

The rumour likely holds a lot of truth, but some of the names mentioned are rather questionable. Seemingly bound for an imminent exit are the likes of Maicon, Joleon Lescott, Edin Dzeko and Scott Sinclair.

Surprising names, in my opinion, with Maicon and Sinclair having been brought in just last summer for a combined fee of around £11.2 million, Joleon Lescott playing decent football (when he is given a chance to play), and Edin Dzeko joint-top club goalscorer alongside Sergio Aguero. Other stars who's position at the club is reportedly under review are Gareth Barry, Javi Garcia, Aleksandar Kolarov and Samir Nasri. Barry and Nasri seem understandable decisions, the former certainly past his peak and on the decline, and the latter largely failing to impress since his big-money move. Javi Garcia is another surprising one, however, also having just arrived last August for the princely sum of £17 million. I suppose you could consider the sale of Kolarov despite the fact that he's played a fair bit of football for the current English Champions this season.

Regardless, this summer we can expect to see the big boys at Manchester City whipping out their cheque books once again, and the press salivating at all the possibilities for transfer gossip - names like Edinson Cavani, Marouane Fellaini, Marco Reus, and Jesus Navas already being linked to the title holders. If all goes well, City'll have plenty of transfer buzz about them to make up for their disappointingly quiet January window. Fingers crossed, anyway.
