Big man targeted by big club

Having only just been bought by QPR, Christopher Samba could leave the club in the summer.

According to Sky Sports, Hoops manager Harry Redknapp has claimed that the Congolese defender is already attracting interest from a ‘big club’.

QPR are struggling at the bottom of the Premier League table and Samba was brought in to try and help the side avoid the drop and remain in the top flight.  Joining wealthy Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in a big money move less than a year ago, however, meant that the West London side had to similarly splash the cash to sign him.

Arriving in the capital for a fee of around £12.5 million, the former Blackburn stopper joins the likes of Loic Remy and Jermaine Jenas in Redknapp’s attempted revolution at Loftus Road.  Whether they can do enough to keep QPR up remains to be seen, but it cannot be said that the former Tottenham boss did not try.

Now 28 years of age, Samba has a wealth of experience from his career in France, Germany and England.  He spent five years at Ewood Park, where his consistent performances saw him become one of the top centre-backs in the country.  Despite leaving Rovers shortly before they were relegated last term, he contributed massively to the side’s defence during his time at the club and even chipped in with a few goals.

A huge player who cost a huge amount of money, will Samba have a huge impact on QPR’s season?
