Is Wenger making space for Villa?

The papers seem desperate to find poor David Villa a club in England (#SaveDavid is still to be announced as the official hash-tag) and The Mirror’s latest proposed destination for the Barcelona man is Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger has apparently already began his big clear out by Marouane Chamakh to West Ham and will turn his attentions moving on Andrey Arshavin, Johan Djourou and Sebastien Squillaci. With a few more names off the wage bill Arsene will have the funds available to swoop for Villa, however Barca have stated that they’re not too keen on the idea of a loan deal and will accept the pricey sum of £15m, thank you very much.
It seems unlikely, even with the fantastic four of Chamakh, Arshavin, Djourou and Squillaci heading for the exit, that Wenger will favour a £15m move for a 31-year-old with injury problems who will command high wages. The Mirror do seem rather optimistic over the potential move though, citing the “relationship” of Arsenal and Barca which has seen Alex Song and Cesc Fabregas depepart for the Nou Camp. I had a relationship like that once, it didn’t last long.
Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool have all enquired about Villa and but seemed rather put off when the La Liga table toppers dismissed the idea of a loan deal, and you can see why.
“Oh David’s leg has snapped again. That’s a shame, good thing we’re only borrowing him and didn’t fork out £15m eh! Oh, what’s that Arsene?"
