Van Wolfswinkel the next on Hughton's striker search list

It would seem that Ricky Van Wolfswinkel is the latest target in Norwich's seemingly never ending search to add some bite to their forward line, if reports in The Daily Mail are to be believed.

Chris Hughton is believed to be desperate to add new recruits to a strike force that has been as blunt as they come this year, with Grant Holt's four league goals the best any of their front-men have managed thus far.

Hughton has cast his net far and wide to find a solution however as yet he has had no success with bids for both Gary Hooper and Danny Graham seemingly coming to nothing. Whilst the Canaries are currently comfortably fluttering seven points clear of the relegation zone they are on a run of five defeats in six, with that in mind and the fact that those nearer the bottom are starting to pick up points Hughton will be well aware of the danger of Norwich quickly falling out of the sky and with it towards the drop zone.

A move for Van Wolfswinkal would be ambitious given that not to long ago he was being tracked by a host of Europes top clubs, however this season he would appear to have lost his ferocity and is struggling for starts in Lisbon. As a result of this the Canaries look set to test the water and the situation in Portugal, although should he become available it is likely that they will need to win a huge scrap for his signature.

Without question Van Wolfswinkel would add a much needed killer instinct to what is currently a largely tame front line at Carrow Road, however it is likely going to take an enormous amount of work to get the highly rated Dutchman onboard given the vast interest in his services.
