Redknapp keen to link up with Crouch a fifth time

Today’s Sun has the least surprising transfer story of the window for you. Apparently Harry Redknapp is looking to recruit Peter Crouch to join his ‘crusade’ against relegation at Loftus Road.

Like the lankiest knight in shining armour Redknapp hopes Crouch can come riding to his rescue after falling out of favour somewhat at Stoke. The 6ft 7in striker has only managed four league goals this season but would certainly give QPR's attack a slightly different dimension.

Redknapp has already worked with Crouch four times previously, first linking up at Portsmouth in 2002 before bringing him to Southampton two years later. Four years on it cost him £9m to bring the England international back to Portsmouth after which he followed ‘Arry over to Tottenham.

If you could choose any player to follow you from club to club I doubt it would be Crouch –who has never scored more than 12 goals in a Premier League season - but with his side staring down the barrel of relegation Redknapp is desperate to bring in anyone who can help the Hoops survive. Plus his other go to guy Jermaine Defoe is a kind of crucial to Spurs right now.

So will it be fifth time lucky for Crouchy and ‘Arry? Will Crouch remember how to operate in a team that isn’t Stoke City? Will his goals fire the Hoops to safety? We can only wait.
