QPR launch £10m swoop for Samba

Some exciting gossip from the Mail from you now. Apparently Harry Redknapp is preparing to press the big red button marked ‘SAMBA SOS’ which will bring the Congo centre back Chris Samba running to the R’s rescue.
Samba is currently playing for Anzhi ‘more money than sense’ Makhachkala in the Russian league but is thought to favour a return to the Premier League as his family remain living in England.
Samba may have had enough of depressing relegation scraps during his time at Blackburn however and could instead be tempted by a move to Arsenal or Tottenham who have previously expressed an interest in the 28-year-old.
If ‘Arry can pull off a move for Samba it will be quite a coup. The former Blackburn powerhouse moved to Anzhi for over £10m, is just one year into a £100,000 a week deal and has the very strong possibility of playing Champions League football next season.
His signing would also represent a huge risk for Rangers who seem determined to keep splashing the cash in order to survive after spending £8m on Loic Remy without bringing in any significant fees from departing players. The West London side have been crying out for defensive solidity this season, but the signing of Samba feels like one which should have been pursued in the summer rather than waiting until the situation got so desperate.
