    QPR's latest target sounds good

A 27-year-old Portuguese international that plays in the Champions League whose name begins with ‘R’ and ends in ‘O’?

This could just be seen as a cruel rumour created to tease QPR fans, but the player Sky Sports claim is on Harry Redknapp’s wishlist is defender Rolando.

Whilst a certain Cristiano would undoubtedly increase the West London side’s chances of Premier League survival, it is breaking down attacks rather than instigating them that their popular manager is looking at in this case.

With Ryan Nelsen expected to head to the MLS to take up a coaching role at Toronto FC, QPR are in need of a replacement.  Since taking over at Loftus Road, Redknapp has looked to install leaders in the team and the experience of Rolando could provide him with exactly that.  The Hoops’ boss is believed to have travelled to Portugal this week to watch the defender at his current club FC Porto, where he has won three Primeira Liga titles and three Portuguese cups, as well as clinching the Europa League in 2011.

The January transfer window closes in less than a week and, with QPR bottom of the Premier League and five points adrift of safety, Redknapp needs to get the right players in quickly.
