Sissoko the next Frenchman on Pardew's radar

Newcastle's non-French speaking players would be advised to take up language classes ASAP, as ESPN Soccernet are reporting that Moussa Sissoko is latest player set to make the short trip across the channel.

The Magpies already posses as many as 7 French players in the first team squad, whilst if reports are to believed a deal to sign Massadio Haidara would mean Sissoko would very much be at home in the North East.

Its often said that it is easier to blend in new recruits from different cultures if you have a couple of players they can relate to, however Newcastle appear to be taking that an entire different extreme level. In fact you would be forgiven for thinking that the scouting network had permanently set up residence in France or they simply are unaware of quality players existing outside the country.

However as much as we might mock that Newcastle can now field more French players than half the clubs in France there is method to this approach, given that without question you get more for your money in France compared to the over priced English market. Further to this it is an approach that has already brought them significant reward in the past with the bargain of Yohan Cabaye being a shining example.

Another argument towards this French raid in January is that without question Newcastle need investment quickly given their precarious position, however funds are hardly in rich supply which means they are unable to sign English players that would settle quickly. So they have gone for the next best thing in looking to sign a whole host of players who should also fit in seamlessly given the number of compatriots they will have at the club.

Sissoko has apparently been given the options of staying in France with Marseille or joining Newcastle in England, however the current batch of French imports currently at St James means it is likely to feel very much like home for the tough tackling midfielder.
