      I've been Rodgered!

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers appears to finally understand what the the entire world and his wife (and his mistress) could have told him: that turning the likes of Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing into Barcelona-lite players is like convincing Arsene Wenger to place a world record transfer bid for Ryan Shawcross. Impossible.

It also doesn't help when the board sanctions letting a £35million striker go out on loan with the transfer window about to close when they had no intention of bringing anyone else, leaving you with only Luis Suarez, the man who can't hit a proverbial barn door and the unheralded Fabio Borini as your only two recognised strikers.

Speaking to the BBC, Rodgers hinted at what he defined as "one or two things to iron out" between himself and the club's American owners, particularly with regards to the club's failure to complete the expected move for Clint Dempsey after Carroll was allowed to join West Ham United Rugby Football Club.

Could the Fenway Group be the new Hicks and Gillet? Will Rodgers be the new Rafa Benitez? Will he arrive for a press conference with a sheet of paper full of 'facts' anytime soon?

We'll have to watch this space.
