If you can't beat them, buy them!

Roman Abramovich looks set to react with his customary manner as he reacts to his side's destruction at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the Super Cup last Friday, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Russian is set to flash his bulging cheque book and make Radamel Falcao his flagship January signing.

Falcao hit a hat trick of absurd ease in Monte Carlo and but for some uncharacteristic wasteful finishing could well have added around 20 more goals to his tally as the Chelsea defence seemingly thought to the Colombian hotshot was covered in invisible ink.

Chelsea are lacking in the striking department, only having Daniel Sturridge who is inexperienced and unsettled and Fernando Torres who is...Fernando Torres to choose from. Falcao would certainly add some beef to those trimmings and would be eligble to play in the Champions League for Chelsea post Christmas, as his current club are somehow only in the Europa League. This of course begs the question...of just who exactly looked like the Champions League winners and who looked like the Europa League winners on Friday night?
