Barca to help engineer Valencia move for Chelsea midfielder?

Barcelona resemble a cavalcade of evil villains plotting against to deprive Chelsea of one their...less key assets if a rumour in the Daily Star is to be believed.

The paper is reporting that the Blues could be set to lose 20-year-old midfielder Oriel Romeu with Valencia interested in the player.

Romeu is highly regarded after joining Chelsea last summer but has seen his place in the team become uncertain with Roberto Di Matteo preferrring Jon Obi Mikel in the holding role.

Now, he could be set to leave the club with Romeu being watched by scouts from Valencia in Spain's U-21 game against Croatia.

But where is the Barcelona link here, I hear you ask?

Well, the paper reports that Barcelona have a £12million buy back clause on the midfielder to return him to the Nou Camp and that the Catalans could help out Valencia by bringing him home first before moving him on to the Mestalla.

Presumably Valencia would buy him for a larger fee than £12milion from Barcelona (else what is in it for Barca?) so surely Valencia might as well just put the initial bid in to Chelsea in the first place?

Still, never let facts get in the way of a good conspiracy eh?
