That is after the Daily Express reported that Manchester United have had to spring to the role of firefighter, by dousing water on rumours that Pep Guardiola could be the next man in the Old Trafford hotseat after Ferguson met the ex-Barcelona boss in New York.
Mr. Ferguson was merely on holiday said United sources, watching Andy Murray's US Open victory in New York, yet a "chance" meeting with senor Guardiola has seemingly sparked a tabloid game of Chinese whispers after the ultra-successful Nou Camp manager has constantly been linked with the opportunity to take over from Ferguson, who is edging towards retirement.
The Express admit Guardiola is one of the favourites to take the United reigns post-Ferguson, also saying that the Spaniard's presence in America is designed to improve his English..... a future in England, managing in the Premier League?
