Arsenal want striker- No! Says man

Just when defences thought they were safe, just when they thought they could settle down for the season against a new breed of diminutive striker, the battering-ram-esque Didier Drogba could be about to prematurely end his ill-advised, huge money move to China with a move back to the Premier League.

A club who felt the Ivorian's brute force more than most clubs during his time in blighty were Arsenal and they are seemingly operating under the idea of "if you can't beat 'em, get them to join you" by making a move for the 34 year old striker.

That is the view of the Sun who report Arsenal are desperately searching for a goal-scorer to fill the void of Robin Van Persie, who left for Manchester United in the summer.

With Drogba at apparent loggerheads with his employees at Shanghai Shenhua over a power struggle, the ex-Chelsea man could be free to move with post haste.

Yet, Ray Wilkins, who worked with Drogba at Chelsea in coaching capacity, is having none of it, telling Talksport that his eight years at Stamford Bridge would tug at the big man's heart-strings too much to become a Gooner.

However, this could all be much ado about nothing with the Ivorian reportedly saying he wishes to remain in China, where he conveniently earns £200,000 a week, to help his country in next year's African Nations Cup.
