City to burst into transfer activity with Agger?

The transfer window has been conspicuous so far by the absence of Manchester City, who possess the buckets of riches that many clubs can only dream about. But like the deadliest shark circling the pond ready to flex its muscles to prey on its unfortunate target, they have been waiting patiently for the chance to bring the oil-fuelled bank notes out.
In this case, the prey is Liverpool and Danish defender Daniel Agger who is subject of intense speculation on Merseyside as the club fight to tie him down to a new contract.
City have so far launched two bids, with one at £13 million, of which both have been rejected, and also Barcelona have fancied a bit of the action but have also seen a bid rejected for the 27 year old centre-back.
However, Sky Sports believe that City's persistence is a little stronger than just being twice told "no" and are coming back with a third bid which could tempt Liverpool to sell their man to raise funds to improve the squad in different areas.
Agger was left out of the squad for the Europa League qualifier away at FC Gomel and rumours of the Dane's future have intensified in the past week after news emerged of a stalling in contract talks.
Brendan Rodgers will want to get the future of Agger sorted as soon as possible and, like a man well-prepared, has already targeted a replacement, his old centre-back at Swansea, 28 year-old Ashley Williams.
The Daily Mail seem to agree with Sky that a third bid could be the ice-breaker, with Liverpool believed to be holding out for a big bid in the region of £20 million.
That's more like the Manchester City we all know and not love; big bids and such.
