Solbakken Plans Ahead

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Stale Solbakken has admitted some of the club’s stars could be set to leave Molineux this summer.
Wolves were relegated to the Championship last season after a dismal season culminated in a last place finish, ending a 3 year stay in the Premier League.
The first test for Norwegian Solbakken, following his succession of Terry Connor, is to convince the club’s best players to stay in the Midlands for at least another season.
Solbakken is realistic in knowing that it may prove difficult to hold on to players with higher aspirations. Steven Fletcher, Matt Jarvis and Kevin Doyle have all been regularly linked with moves elsewhere during the summer transfer window.
The former Wimbledon player has reassured fans there is ambition at the club to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. The new boss has already added West Ham youngster Frank Nouble and Icelandic striker Bjorn Sigurdarson to the squad in what will be a new era at Molineux.
“I know as a manager things can change but at the moment I have these players and I will work hard with them.”
“Maybe players coming in and maybe players will be leaving us but the aim for Wolves is to be stronger when the transfer window is over.”
The Wolves fans will be expecting an instant return to the top flight and Solbakken, approaching his first season managing in English football, is aware of such expectations.
“I think it is better that the fans have expectations, that means they are smelling something”, he told Sky Sports News.
“We will try everything to keep them happy and if we do that then I think we have done well.”
