Just how much is he asking for?!

The key thing in any news article in any newspaper about any subject is detail. That and a decent grammar…and a headline and intro that draws you, the reader, in…and a picture because pictures are nice
But yes, where was I…oh, right, detail. Detail is the key thing in any article as without detail, a story is rubbish; like a globe without a magnifying glass (my similes today are brought to you in association with stuff that I can currently see).
On this subject, I bring you this article from the Daily Mail which states that Emmanuel Adebayor’s proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur from Manchester City will fall through due to the striker’s wage demands.
The piece says that the move would have cost Spurs £6million, that he spent last season on loan at the club, that Andre Villas-Boas wants him to join, that he spent the week training with the team, that Spurs are prepared to make him their highest paid player ever at some £115,000 a week and Jermaine Defoe is the only recognised striker at the club.
Hell, even basically frivolous details about the signings Spurs have made so far this summer, Adebayor’s previous career moves and so on.
However, one key detail is missing which you may have already picked up on. If his wage demands are too high (which implies the writer knows how much they are) wouldn’t it be prudent to say, mention how much he is demanding?
Just a thought.
