New Keeper Will Come In Andy

Owen Coyle has confirmed Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of goalkeeper Andy Lonergan from Leeds United. The 28 year old stopper has joind the Trotters on a 3 year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Lonergan will replace Bolton legend Jussi Jaaskelainen, who has departed for West Ham United, and will be fighting with young Hungarian Adam Bogdan to be starting between the sticks next season.

The Championship is no strange place to Lonergan who has vast experience in England’s second tier having made a combined 240 appearances in the league for Preston North End and Leeds United.

Owen Coyle will be glad to add Lonergan’s experience to his squad as Wanderers aim to make an instant return to the Premier League. Bolton faced competition to land Lonergan’s signature from other club following Leeds United’s signing of Paddy Kenny.

Coyle has expressed his pleasure at the side’s latest acquisition, “There were four clubs in for Andy so we are pleased that he signed for us.”

“We have a player who has a wealth of experience at this level and also his signing will add to the competition for the keeper’s jersey.”
