      No More Bids For Emnes

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has rejected rumours there has been another bid tabled for Middlesbrough striker Marvin Emnes.

There had been several reports at the end of last season that Swansea had made a £3 million bid for the Dutchman but since have had no contact with the Teeside club.

Emnes scored 18 goals last season, his best return for Middlesbrough since leaving Sparta Rotterdam in 2008 for £3.2 million.

The 24 year olda is no stranger to Swansea City, having spent a loan spell at the Liberty Stadium under former boss Brendan Rodgers. During his spell in Wales with the Swans, Emnes impressed with 2 goals in 4 league games.

New Swansea manager Michael Laudrup will be looking at transfer targets as he prepares for his first and his team’s second season in the Premier League.

Emnes may still be on the radar but chairman Huw Jenkins gave nothing away, he told the club’s official website “we made an enquiry with Middlesbrough six weeks ago regarding Marvin’s availability.”

“We needed to test the water.”

“But that was six weeks ago when Brendan Rodgers was the manager. We have certainly not made an enquiry since then.”

“Having just appointed a new manager in Michael Laudrup, all current and new options are being assessed. Michael, with the help of the recruitment staff, will decide over the next few weeks the direction we take regarding potential new signings.”
