Mandzukic replaces Dzeko as Bayern target

One of the unforeseen consequences of the mass hoarding of talent by Manchester City is starting to emerge as they seek to offload players to lower their wage bill.
Due to players at the club being on huge wages after the summers of massive splurging, said players would appear to be unwilling to reduce their income by moving clubs onto lower wages.
The latest example of this is Edin Dzeko who the Daily Mail believe has priced himself out of a move to Bayern Munich due to his wage demands.
The Bosnian striker is wanted by Bayern to provide competition to Mario Gomez at the club but the 26-year-old’s wage demands of £125,000 a week would appear to be too much for the German outfit.
As a result, Bayern have taken a different tact and set their sights on Mario Mandzukic who enjoyed a stellar tournament for Croatia, notching three goals in three games.
The striker currently at Wolfsburg has agreed a deal to join Bayern on wages of ‘only’ £60,000 and it is thought an £8m move will be finalised within the next few days.
The outcome leaves Dzeko in limbo as it is thought he is surplus to requirements at City and Juventus are no longer interested in the striker.
