Big Sam targets another striker

If there is one position West Ham most certainly need to strengthen if they are to ensure that they’re promotion to the Premier League is not a short-lived affair it is their striking options.
I mean, just look at the strikers they currently possess; Sam Baldock, Nicky Maynard, Carlton Cole, Ricardo Vaz Te, Freddie Sears and Frederic Piquionne. Not like there is a wealth of options there is there? But then again, I’m no football manager so what do I know.
The Daily Mirror reports that Sam Allardyce has almost doubled his initial bid for wantaway Norwich striker Grant Halt; upping the club’s bid from £3m to £5.5m in an attempt to test the Canaries’ resolve.
Although the deal isn’t quite doubling the offer as it is an initial £3.5m payment with an extra £2m to be paid based on appearances that the 31-year-old would make.
The striker scored 17 goals last season for the newly promoted City but submitted a transfer request to the club in the immediate aftermath of last season which the club turned down.
