Barca target all the best defenders

 

With Barcelona arguably being the most attractive club for any player in the world to sign for right now, it makes sense to link the best players in the world to them for a transfer this summer. Which is exactly what the Daily Mirror has done.

The paper reports that new Barca boss Tita Vilanova is targeting signing a new central defender this summer with Carles Puyol’s injury problems and a lack of genuine cover in the position.

The newspaper believes that Athletic Bilbao central defender/ central midfielder Javi Martinez is the Catalans’ number one target but is providing too expensive to sign currently which could lead to Vilanova raiding the Premier League.

What follows is a list of arguably the three best, young-ish and with the best potential for the future defenders in the Premier League last season; Vincent Kompany, Thomas Vermaelen and David Luiz.

Funnily enough, these are the exact three same players the Daily Mirror has linked Barcelona with signing should they be unable to persuade Bilbao to drop the price of Martinez.
