    Vermaelen commits himself to Gunners

Loyalty isn't really a common concept in football nowadays, but it is something that Thomas Vermaelen has pledged to Arsenal.

The 26 year old, who has impressed in his time at the Emirates with both his robust defending and his cultured attacking, has declared that he will remain in North London for the rest of his footballing career according to football365.

Speaking on the subject, the number 5 told The Mirror: 'I don't see any reason to ever leave the club.

'I will stay at Arsenal forever. There will be no transfer for me.

'I love London. I've got a house there, I'm happy there and I don't see any reason to ever leave the club.'

The Belgian centre half, who hopes to play against England on Saturday, has made 67 league appearances in his 3 years at Arsene Wenger's side.

Vermaelen has also racked up a goal scoring record, scoring 13 times in total, 6 coming in 29 games last season; that's 5 more goals than former England striker Emile Heskey managed last season for Aston Villa, albeit Heskey played a game less.

Gooners will, undoubtedly, be pleased to have the 6 foot centre back at the heart of their defence for years to come.
