      Silvestre link is nonsense- Redknapp

If you are not used to the finer details of the transfer market, well a big part of it is some media companies and agents like to add 2 to 2 and get a story just to fill the news void and it looks to have happened with Palermo's Matias Silvestre.

Talksport had reported earlier this week that Tottenham Hotspur had joined Inter Milan in the race for the 27 year old centre-half as a result of growing concerns over the future of perma-crock Ledley King.

Harry Redknapp however, the man who knows better than most who Spurs are bidding for and who they are not, has taken a huge bat and quashed the rumours to the point of no return. The manager told calciomercato.it that there was no truth in the claims and that Spurs have indeed made no contact with the Italian club for the Argentinean defender.

Silvestre has grown something of a reputation in recent times with a series of impressive performances after three years in Serie A with Catania and now Palermo. He has attracted the interest of several clubs according to Sky Sports, but it appears that Tottenham are not one of them.

In what Calciomercato called a "brief contact" with the station from Redknapp, the Spurs boss said that they were talking about a good player in Silvestre, but he harbours no hopes of bringing him to White Hart Lane and has made no contact with the player or his representatives.

Adamant that they have "never thought about him", it appears that North London won't be the desitnation for the rather elegant Silvestre who has admitted he wants to leave Sicliy, according to Football Italia. He may be off, but not to Tottenham.
