Fulham and Newcastle target Spanish legend

Much like the safecracker who is in semi-retirement working as a librarian on weekends or some such being asked to come on one last big job that inevitably goes badly before ending happily, Newcastle and Fulham are targeting ever-green striker Raul.
According to Talksport, both Premier League sides have made enquiries about the 34-year-old who made his final home appearance for Schalke at the weekend after two years, 98 games and 40 goals in Germany.
Having settled on moving away from the Bundesliga (despite his family wanting him to stay), Raul is thought to want to tackle a new challenge.
That challenge is thought to be semi-retirement playing in Qatar and not in a major European league but Talksport speculate that both Fulham and Newcastle have made audacious approaches the player’s agent to change the Spanish legend’s mind.
Talksport cite reports in Spain that the two Premier League clubs hope to lure Raul away from the Middle East hoping the challenge of cracking the Premier League will appeal to him.
Raul has one game left with Schalke before deciding on his next career move.
