      Clough: Shackell staying put

Nigel Clough has insisted that temporary Derby County captain, Jason Shackell, isn't going anywhere according to Team Talk.

Since joining the Rams from Barnsley in the summer, the 28 year old has made some impressive performances in the East Midlands. They haven't gone unnoticed, with Burnley rumoured to have had a £1.2 million bid rejected.

With Derby club captain Shaun Barker ruled out until Christmas, Clough is unlikely to be tempted to part with Shackell until he looks to have a replacement lined up.

Clough, son of the legendary Brian Clough, said: 'We don't have to sell, but if we do it will be to strengthen the team.'

Shackell, a product of the Norwich City youth academy, made 49 appearances in all competitions for the Rams last season, scoring 1 goal.
