      Harte would love Premiership return

Veteran left-back, Ian Harte, concedes that he is fighting to save his Reading career and in doing so hopes for a Royal return to the big time.

The 34 year old has put in some stellar performances this campaign and netted a penalty in the Berkshire sides crucial win over West Ham United at Upton Park.

'If it is to work out here, which I would love as all my family have moved down, it would be amazing, said the Irishman.

'I have just got to play as well as I can and it's up to the management to decide if I am to get a new contract. If I did get one, I would be delighted, if not then I just have to wish them all the best.

'Please God, I would love the opportunity, but the only one who can answer that is the gaffer.'

Harte has made 27 League appearances for Reading this season, and has helped them to 2nd in the table, level on points with league leaders, Southampton, with only 5 games left to play.

The Saints and The Royals meet on Friday in a table topping showdown.
