Kean erects Fergie warding off device

This particular rumours is brought to you in association with the concept of déjà vu as Blackburn warn Manchester United to keep their grubby, young-British-defender-stealing mitts off one of the Ewood Park club’s highly rated young British defenders.

This time last year it was highly rated, young English defender Phil Jones who made the short hop up the Devil’s Road (the A666) for a fee of somewhere in the region of £19m.

This time around, professional head turner and head hunter, Sir Alex Ferguson, has targeted highly rated, young, Scottish defender Grant Hanley, praising him after United’s 2-0 win at Ewood earlier this week. You can see the sense of reoccurrence here and not just with the repeated use of the words “young, highly rated defender”.

However, abuse-magnet and Blackburn manager Steve Kean has warned off the Fergie bird of prey with a custom-made bird of prey swatter made out of words. It’s a metaphorical swatter you see.

According to the Sun, Kean said; “He [Ferguson] was very complimentary about Grant. He thinks he’s good enough to play for Scotland for the next 10 to 15 years, and I agree. I hope Fergie’s not going to be putting a bid in. I said that to him. I told him leave it a bit longer because Grant is only just starting with us.”

Call this writer something of a cynic, but seeing as whatever Fergie wants Fergie usually gets, one would suspect Kean and Blackburn are going to require much more than a metaphorical bird swatter made out of words to ward off the Scottish knight. Perhaps an actual swatter is the solution...
