Adebayor urged to end club collecting

Tottenham playing and coaching staff have urged striker, club collector and occasional near-riot starter Emmanuel Adebayor to settle down back in North London but this time at White Hart Lane.

The on-loan Manchester City striker has struck 14 goals this season since his switch from the Etihad to White Hart Lane last summer and has been crucial in Spurs’ season thus far, particularly operating in their 4-5-1 formation and not shouting too much at Gareth Bale or Aaron Lennon when they get carried away and don’t put in a cross.

Earlier in the week, Rafael van der Vaart urged the club to make the loan move permanent for a player he deems is one of the best strikers in the world.

And now Spurs coach Les Ferdinand has expressed his hope that the Togo striker will continue his good form so far this season and have the chance to carry it on into next year.

Ferdinand told Sky Sports News; “He's been fantastic - he can stay up there, he can hold onto the ball, score goals with his head and what he does is he brings people into the game as well so he's been absolutely essential to the way we've performed this season. And we hope that he can continue the form until the end of the season and then come the end of the season hopefully we can see about whether we can keep him here."

However, this could be some wishful thinking with the budget constraints at Spurs well known and the striker’s wage demands thought to be rather high creating a situation where (cliché alert!) something has to give.

If Adebayor is not prepared to accept the offer Spurs are making then he can do one. His wages are grosly over inflated anyway. True he is a good player and has been good for Spurs but Spurs have been good for him also. I think the deal Spurs are offering him is a good deal and he should accept it because if he doesn't he will sit on the City bench with the occasional sub appearance and his career will just float by. He is treated well and loved at Spurs. 100k per week plus a 4 million sign on fee is a good deal. Tottenham are desperate for him to stay but at the end of the day there are other players out there.
